Denglisch
The first time I had heard of the word Denglisch was in this class when Robert told us that we could write in a combination of English and Deutsch. I never knew that this was actually a documented thing though. It was interesting to see how languages and cultures impact one another and therefor I found it fascinating read the Wikipedia page about Denglisch. It is understandable that post WWII during the Allied occupation of Germany that American and German cultures meshed in some ways. American pop-culture during this time probably played a large part in the formation of many Denglisch words. Also, as time went on and technological advances spread throughout the world the German language adopted the English words for the new technology, which also contributed a large part to Denglish. This being said, that English has played a role in the formation of new German words, growing up in my family and in my town there were many German and Dutch words that were commonly used. German was the only language that was taught in my high school until the 90s and there for played a large role in my community.
