Summer Schools in den USA & Differenze Linguistiche

This piece is talking about the very popular "summer school" program. It is very short and the main idea is simple, this program is a great experience for students who participated but it can be expensive and it is only few months or one semester.

It feels great that I can understand the time and keywords on sidebars. With the help of clicking and guessing, I pick up several useful words when reading a online news:
Drucken: Print
Versenden: Send
Merken: Bookmark
Nutzungsrechte: Rights of use
Zur Startseite: go to homepage
Alle Themeseiten: All topics
Auslandstudium is easy to guess: study abroad

The article itself is much harder to actually read, but it is easy to guess; because some nouns look like English and some verbs have been covered in Kapital Zwei. Moreover, most sentences share very similar structures as what we have practiced on class:
Eigentlich ist sie Studentin in Heidelberg
Studenten nebenbei ein fremde Uni-Welt kennenlernen können
Und Summer Schools gehen ins Geld
Sonst studiert sie Osteuropäische Geschichte an der Universität Göttingen.

This piece is easier compared with others because it is close to our experience and our Kapital Zwei was about school life. Reading this one is like a review for last two weeks' vocab:
für zwei bis sechs Wochen
kennenlernen
im, auf, aus....

Some words came up repeatedly and I think these are worth memorizing.

Einmal: First, Once
über-: over-
Eigentlich: incidently, it seems lots of adj/adv have this -lich ending
weit verbreitet: widespread, popular
inzwischen : meanwhile
entscheiden: to decide
der Semesterferien: school vacation, semester+ferien
Besonders: particularly
ohne: without
ausgelegt: designed? gelegt: set
rechnen: to count, include
deshalb: therefore
etwas: something
aufgeben: to give up
ersetzen: to replace
vergangenen Sommer: last summer
Sonst: otherwise
einem: a?? not sure when to use this one

About one year ago, my friends who studied German shared a series of photos online, called "Differenze Linguistiche". At that time, I was not able to fully appreciate how amüsant they are.

Now I can get it. Search Google images for "Differenze Linguistiche German" and have fun~~
